Sean Brady

BACKGROUND
Sean was a career foreign service officer in the Canadian Department of External Affairs after completing degrees in Chinese and Southeast Asian studies at the University of Toronto and Cornell University in the 1960’s. He had diplomatic postings in Hong Kong, Thailand, and New York, before serving as the Official Spokesman of the Department of External Affairs, and then as High Commissioner in Singapore. He left the Canadian foreign service and set up his own consulting company, Pac Rim International, in Thailand in July 1989. Sean joined the fledgling Thai-Canadian Business Club and became an active member. In 1991 he became the Founding President of the then Thai-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the forerunner of today’s CanCham. He served several terms on the Chamber’s Board of Directors, both as President and, later, as an Advisor.

Sean has remained in Thailand since 1989. Pac Rim represented the Canada-ASEAN Centre and the Canadian Provinces of Ontario and British Columbia on the trade front. His company also represented a number of Canadian and international corporations in the pulp and paper sectors, such as H.A. Simons and Commonwealth Construction. In addition, it represented Bombardier Business and Regional Aircraft and Bombardier Amphibious Aircraft, as well as Bell Helicopter Textron. Sean was an active Rotarian and served as the President of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South. He is married to Khun Premsiri Devahastin. Sean and Premsiri relocated to Chiangmai in October 2017.
