Criterion Asia Recruitment was founded in 2013 by James Vessey, a 25-year veteran of sales and recruitment in Thailand and Asia Pacific. Since that time, the company has rapidly risen to become one of the leading human resources services firms in Thailand. The company is based in Bangkok and specializes in recruitment and executive search services in Thailand. Criterion Asia also undertakes search and placement activities in Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
The company sourced its name and working philosophy from the word “criterion”, which is the singular of criteria, a basis for comparison; a reference point against which other things can be evaluated. The team is led by Yves Gaboriault and Matthew Zavadil. Yves has over 20 years of sales management and leadership experience in Asia Pacific, Africa, and North America gained in the construction and heavy equipment industries. His professional experience has focused on building, expanding, and managing businesses, particularly across the Asia Pacific region.
Yves’ expertise includes developing and growing sales teams, creating partnerships, and developing distribution channels where he has managed markets in size ranging from US$ 25m to US$ 266m. Yves was an early investor in Criterion Asia and he recently joined the company in the position of Managing Partner in January 2017. Yves is a Canadian national with a degree in Industrial Engineering from ?cole Polytechnique de Montreal, and a Masters in Business Administration from INSEAD. He is also a 6-sigma Black Belt.
Matthew Zavadil, a 25-year veteran of the IT Consulting industry, spent his entire career with Accenture. His final role as CEO of IT
One Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Accenture & SCG, brought Matt to Thailand where he has built an impressive network of IT industry C-levels and beyond. He joined Criterion two years ago to lead our IT & Digital practice. Matt’s deep knowledge of the IT and Digital spaces coupled with his understanding of the Thailand market and his large network of IT | Digital professionals, make him one of the most successful & sought after IT executive search professionals in the country.
Matt is a US national and received a Master of Business Administration in Operations Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
